Alicia Pol

I started diving in 2003 after participating in a Discover Scuba and then immediately completing my Open Water Certification to complete a college physical education credit. After that I was hooked. I took the fast track to professional diving and earned my Divemaster Certification a year later. In 2005, I was a full-blown instructor and shortly after that, Master Scuba Diver Trainer.
What made you want to teach scuba diving? I love seeing students (especially those that may have fear or trouble) get it. As soon as they master a skill or get over a fear, you see a spark in their eyes and know - this person is hooked. I'm happy to be part of that life-changing experience.
What is your favorite place to scuba dive? I think I have a tie for favorite scuba spot - both Cozumel and Belize have stolen my heart. Not only are they close to home, these locations are cheap to get to, beautiful to dive in, and have great food and hospitality. I'm definitely up to dive in any blue water I can though.
What is your favorite specialty to teach? Definitely Digital Photography. What better way to keep and show off the memories you had on a trip or diving experience?
Do you have any future diving plans? One day I'll live on an island, work on my tan every day, and teach scuba in blue water. But for now, I'm thinking about getting my IDC Staff... one of these days.
What do you do on your off-time? When I'm not diving, you can find me working in a coffee shop or riding around on my bicycle. In addition to teaching scuba, I lead a bike ride in Dallas every Tuesday night.
