Do I need to be a registered user to use this site?
No. The Dive Crew Photo Gallery is open for public viewing. However, there are several features only available to registered users. These include the ability to upload and download pictures and send eCards.
The Upload, eCard, and Download buttons don't work.
These features are available to registered users of our gallery. If you are a registered user, you will need to log in in order for these buttons to become active.
Why do I need to enter a verification code?
SPAM has become a big problem on the Internet. In addition people sending SPAM use automated scripts known as Spam Bots to search through sites and find ways to send automated email, upload objectionable pictures, and post inappropriate comments in picture galleries and message boards.
To help prevent these things from happening on The Dive Crew Photo Gallery, we have implemented CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart). Try saying that three times fast! 
Without boring you with all the techie details, this process basically creates random words or characters in an image format that SPAM bots and computers cannot read. In essence, it makes you prove you are human.
While it may be a slight inconvenience when sending an eCard or posting a comment, this process will help us maintain the photo gallery and prevent spammers from using this sight.
What is the Lightbox feature?
I wondered about this one, too, when we first set up the new gallery. 
The Lightbox feature is a collection of your favorite images. Think of it as your personal favorites category.
How do I upload pictures?
Registered users have the ability to upload files. Simply find the appropriate category and click the Upload button. You will be asked to enter in some details about the picture. That's it.
And if that wasn't simple enough, we've even included a hidden utility that will automatically resize images that are larger than the max size when you upload then. Wow... what will these guys come up with next? 
I've uploaded pictures, but they don't show up.
Not to worry. You're picture was uploaded. By default, all uploaded images require approval from the site administrators before they appear publicly. This is just another way we ensure that inappropriate images do not end up in this gallery.
I don't see a category that is appropriate for my pictures. How can I add one?
We've created several category trees, but if you cannot find a place for your images, let us know. We'll be glad to create a category that's perfect for your pictures.
